Students are placed in a tutor group within their year group. Each group’s tutor is responsible not only for the immediate pastoral care of their groups, but also for the oversight of their academic progress. Tutors also provide advice and guidance throughout the five years spent in the main school.
Tutors meet their groups for twenty minutes during the school day. This is an important time for the students to interact with each other, build up the sense of community within the tutor group and the school as a whole.
We place considerable importance on attendance and punctuality, both of which are monitored by the tutor, supported where necessary by the Educational Welfare Officer. Tutors provide a very important link between home and school and should, under normal circumstances, be the first point of contact if problems or anxieties arise.
