Introducing: George Sutton
Our first spotlight student is George Sutton from Year 10. George is currently a rising star in the world of motor sport following a successful few years in kart
George started his journey at 9 years after going karting with his Father during a holiday in Portugal. Since then George has progressed through local Karting championships and finished 13th in the British championships during the 2013 season and 10th overall in the 2014 championship.
Last year saw a jump to saloon car racing, at 15 George cannot legally drive on the roads but takes to the famous circuits of Brands Hatch and Oulton Park with ease, and finished his first season in the Junior Saloon Car Championship in 7th place overall.
George is currently competing in the Junior Saloon car championship and is 2nd overall after winning his most recent race at Oulton Park and coming third in the
second race. George works incredibly hard to balance school work and his racing. He acknowledges how difficult it can be: “I try as hard as I can in school but I also have to work hard on my racing which includes simulator and gym work.”
“It would be nice to have more time to practice but I know that won’t happen until I leave school, Next year will be tough with GCSE exams.”
Progress Leader for Year 10, Mr Littleford said, “It’s fantastic to hear George is excelling at his chosen sport. I would like to congratulate him on his recent success and encourage him. as well as all of our students to work hard and achieve your dreams!”
