Rewards and Sanctions
If a student does something well the teacher can recognise this by speaking to the student in class and writing comments in the student’s exercise book. Student achievements or effort may be rewarded in lessons by ecredits, which can be saved or spent by students on a range of selected products.
Attendance awards are given for 100% individual attendance and the top-attending Tutor Group each term is rewarded.
We also acknowledge students who have made the most progress each term, across the range of subjects by awarding termly Progress Awards and each year a Presentation Evening is held where Awards for Excellence are made to those students who have shown exceptional effort or achievement.
At Grove, we expect a high standard of behaviour and a positive attitude to learning. If a student does not meet these high standards they should expect their actions to have consequences. There are school systems to address issues such as poor behaviour or attitude to work, and problems with attendance or punctuality.
“Behaviour in lessons and around school is good and made a strong contribution to good learning.”
